Your presence is requested – join us in filling the bowls!!
You have been instrumental in our growth for the past 30 years! Together, we have created, maintained, and reimagined Rachel’s Table to ensure that needs are met, bowls are filled, and solutions are found to fight food insecurity in Western Massachusetts.
We hope you come to celebrate the milestone of 30 years, and of serving our neighbors, and now, of soon becoming a nonprofit entity at our Bountiful Bowls celebration on June 13. Tickets will go on sale soon – watch our website and your mailboxes – for musical and comedic talent Dave Brinnel, video and film montages, delicious food, cake and a toast! We will be honoring the 10 founders of our program – Judy Ingis, Myra Gold, Susanne Osofsky, Liz Kittredge Rome, Patti Weber Weiner, Linda Skole, Ronnie Leavitt, Nancy Posnick, Daydie Hochberg of blessed memory, and Staff and Campaign Associate Margie Berg. We will also honor 4 of the more recent advisors (the “4 J’s”) – Joseph Dorison, of blessed memory, Jon Lasko, Jerry Munic and Janice Greenberg – and the Arbella Insurance Foundation, which has supported our newest food equity effort, Growing Gardens. Eric Lesser will preside as our Honorary Chair, reminding all of us about what service can mean to our community.
During this exciting time, we continue to make an impact – delivering 75 percent more food than we did in the fall, distributing over $18,000 worth of meat in just one day per week thanks to our new refrigerated van, working hand in hand with those most affected by food insecurity to grow their own food, and more. Our mission remains to alleviate hunger and reduce food waste in Massachusetts, and to this, we add creating holistic, sustainable solutions for food security in our region. Our work serves people daily, during crisis moments, and with long-term vision. Our Teen Board educates through service, community engagement, and advocacy – such as in our most recent Artsfest ’23. Our Growing Gardens program has nurtured youth to become teachers of health and wellness.
Rachel’s Table’s values stem from the ancient roots of Judaism but serve with and for all faiths in growing fertile solutions for food security. The values of tikkun olam, repair of the world, and tzedakah, justice, are humanitarian values that reach across all faith traditions – and help us all steward the earth and each other. We can only do this together, and we thank you for joining us in making our world a bit brighter each day.
At our June 13 event, we will give a sneak peek of our new logo and share our contact information. If you haven’t already contributed to Bountiful Bowls 30th year Birthday Bash fundraiser, or would like to attend, please visit www.rachelstablepv.org to do so! We thank you for helping us fill the bowls of those in need.
To a day when all bowls are filled,
Jodi Falk
